On 26 February 2007, the Government of Sweden agreed to provide grant aid of US$ 2.6 million to the Government of Laos in the implementation of project entitled Realizing Rights of All Children in Lao PDR Phase II for three years, from 2007 to 2009. The agreement was signed by Madame Bounpheng Mounphoxay, Minister to the Prime Minister’s Office and Head of Public Administration and Civil Authority and Madame AnnLis Åberg, Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of Sweden. The assistance will include promoting children’s friendship schools to be set up in Vientiane Capital and in 10 provinces namely : Oudomxay, Luang Prabang, Xayaboury, Khammouan, Borikhamxay, Vientiane, Savannakhet, Champassak, Saravan and Xekong. The assistance followed on the phase I which ran from 2002 to 2005, for which it donated US$ 477,269.
