On 26 February 2007, the Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA) has provided a financial assistance for the construction and improvement of five rural roads in Vientiane province. The grant-aid package of US$ 300,000 will be spent on the construction of roads in districts namely Sanakham, Hinheup, Thoulakhom, Phonhong and Saysomboun. All roads are expected to complete at the end of June 2007.
